Check your e-mails!

I sent out an e-mail a few moments ago reguarding the activities going on these next few days! Here's the copy of the e-mail sent out:

(slightly edited for privacy; the e-mail includes addresses and last names...not cool for an online blog)

Howdy!! We hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! We've got a whole bunch of great activities coming up, so break out your new calendars! If you know friends home on Christmas Break, invite them to come. They are welcome to join the activities!

First off, on Friday, the 28th, we've got a multi-regional dance starting at 9pm at the Stockton Brookside building (The one by the institute building). It goes until 12am and it's going to be fun!

Second, on Saturday, the 29th, there is a the Stake Adult activity at the Stake Center. It starts at 7:30pm at the Northland building. It's a game night! There will be plenty of games to play and we'll have the opportunity to get to know more people in our stake!

On Sunday, the 30th, ye shall rest...because it's the Sabbath...

But on Monday, the 31st, we party! We've got the Ward New Years Eve party at Bill's house. The party starts at 9pm and goes till...whenever! There will be games (indoor and outdoor), video games, pizza making, movies, snacks and breakfast at 1am! There will be plenty of parking in front of his house. We will be passing around the sign up sheets again on Sunday, just in case people missed it and to make sure everyone remembers what they signed up to bring.

THEN, after catching a breather Tuesday and Wednesday, on Thursday, January 3rd, we have our first YSA baptism trip of 2008! We are, as usual, set for the 7pm session. If you need a temple recommend, contact Danny T., He's the man to go to schedule a meeting with the Bishop.

Am I forgetting anything? I hope not...If I am, I'll send out another e-mail :) We are stoked for all the activities coming up and hope you all can make it!

Temple Trip!

Ahhh! Sorry this is so late notice!! Don't forget the temple baptism trip is tomorrow! It was decided tonight at institute that those of us who are going from the Yosemite ward would be meeting at the Chester building parking lot to arrange carpooling. It's going to be like last month where we meet there at 5:45pm and get on the road by 6pm. Our Stockton friends will be meeting at the institute parking lot at 5:30.

Do be prepared for cold wet weather in Oakland. It's calling for showers and a possible thunderstorm.

Bowling Anyone?

Quick reminder about Melissa D's bowling night! She sent me an e-mail with the information on the fliers she created just in case people were gone on Sunday (which was a number of you and WE MISSED YOU!) So, here we have it!

"Come for a fun night of Bowling!

When: Friday, November, 30th at 6:30pm SHARP (Be at my [Melissa's] house at 6:30, not leaving your house)

Where: Meet at Melissa’s (parking available across the street in the McParland Elem. School parking lot) then carpool to Manteca Bowl & Family Center(aka: Strike Zone – on the corner of Yosemite Ave & Cottage Ave in Manteca – off of 99) and then Melissa’s House for continued fun and excitement (movies, games, ect. - bring your own if you would like!) and to pitch in, bring a goodie of your choice for people to enjoy!

Why: To have fun as a ward and as friends and get to know everyone that much better!

How much: Shoe rental is $2.50/person. We’ll also be renting 1-4 lanes – depending on how many people show - for an hour or two ($20ea/hr), so everyone **please** bring $5-10 to help pitch in for the cost. There’s also an arcade and food there, so feel free to bring extra money for that, too!"

If you would like more information, I can get you Melissa's cell number. Don't hesitate to e-mail!

Turkey Bowl and a Movie Party!

Okay you guys! Tomorrow is the ward Turkey Bowl! We start at 11am with the games (football and bowling) and we will be having lunch at noon! Be there or else! Hehehe!!

Also, after the the Turkey Bowl, Melissa D. is graciously hosting a movie party at her place! Here's the info written by the awesome girl herself:

"--Party/Shindig at Melissa's house (in Manteca) after the Turkey Bowl. People can head to her place straight from the activity or come when they want/can (so if you have prior arrangements right after, you can still come over after them [or something like that]). There'll be movies, games and loads of fun to be had!! Feel free to bring some movies (PG-13 being highest rating - UNLESS it is a **FILTERED**/**CLEAN EDIT** "R" movie), games and goodies of your own to it as well!! Also, bring whatever amount of money ($$) you can to pitch in to get some pizza (planning on getting at least 2 larges) and some soda. People are welcome to stay as long as they'd like... There's plenty of parking space for everyone in the school parking lot across the street (McParland Elementary)"

She will be handing out fliers tomorrow with her address to her house and additional information. Looks like tons of fun! If you have anymore questions, I can get you Melissa's cell number.

We're looking forward to tomorrow!

Office Party goes underground...

Or at least changes time. I was given the constraint that I should not
let the office party distract from enrichment. Instead of canceling
though, were just going to change the rules. First off, were starting
late and watching of recorded. Secondly, If you have no y chromasome
(ladies, you know who you are...) then you will not be admitted unless
you attended enrichment. No exceptions, but it is honor code, so feel
free to cheat to your hearts content on this one. Gentlemen, for every
lady you kept from enrichment, we take one of
Your legs. Let's just hope you didn't plan a double date :-! Also,
you're guilty until proven inocent, and this ones going to require a
notarized whitness, and physical evidence. Its a tough world gents,
get used to it:P

Party starts at my house officially at 930, but if you get out of
enrichment early swing on by... You can help me refinish cabinets:-!

Institute and soccer

Its wednesday, and you know what that means people. Another
opportunity to grow spiritually, and then to trade most of that
spirtual growth for physical growth as we compete to the bitter end in
a often violent and fast paced game of indoor soccer. Good times will
be had by all. Hope to see you there!

Scary movie Saturday

Bill is gracious enough to be hosting a spooky movie marathon at his place.  The party kicks off at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday. Bring snacks, and be ready to be scared!

Remote Post

This is test of the remote post system. This is only a test. If this
had been an actual activity, it would have had a day ascociated with it.

Every Wednesday

Friendly reminder: Institute on Wednesday at 7. Afterwards, we usually play indoor soccer starting about 9 at the stockton stake center. Tons of fun, plus spiritual to boot!

Corn Maize Friday

Its still fresh... Corn Maze Tandem Challenge. This sounds like an incredible activity hosted at, and by the Stockton Institute. People are paired up and tied together at the writs. They then get in a car, and go to and complete the corn maze, all while stuck at the wrist (if I heard right, you get to eat together too) We all should have good practice thanks to the cool activity we had at FHE a couple weeks back. Great way to meet someone new (what was the point of a singles ward again??). and should be a blast.

Corn Maize Monday!

Pun absolutely intended. This Monday for FHE we are going to the corn maze in Lathrope. This is the big FHE event of the year and is a ton of fun. Adam and Des (Dez? not sure of the abbreviated spelling..) have more information seeing as how they are in charge. I'll add more when I know more...

Fall Auction

Last night we held our annual Fall Charity Auction. It was a blast. We had a good turn out, and people had a great opportunity to socialize and get to know each other. The weather was generally amiable (I thank the heavens for temperate heavens :), and the Pavilion was as inviting a venue as I have ever seen thanks to some brilliant christmas lights (multiple uses a year really makes the "christmas lights" investment much more palatable). Audience participation was very high (albeit not quite as high as spring's talent show where everyone single member participated to the best of my knowledge :) Wow, apparently I use rather a lot of parenthetical asides in my writing :-!

Chile Cook off results:
     People's Choice Award: Erin G.
(this stuff went like "hot cakes." don't ask me what exactly that expression means)
Miracle Chile: Steven C. (you'd have to ask him the story)
Highest Critical Acclaim: David C. (I cant express how disappointing this was...)

Brethren: I'm not going to sugar coat this... I'm not thrilled with your chile cooking performance this time around.  Erin G. proved herself more manly than any of you this weekend (except of course Steven C. who is "The Man" that they are always talking about).  My only advice: sell your cars and buy some big trucks.  Excepting Steven, and Jimmy of course, you all need one.

Thanks everyone for all the help setting up, tearing down, and donating time, effort, and canned, and material goods. Jolly good show. I really appreciated the help cleaning up especially: after a very long day getting ready it was a joyous experience to see the adage "Many hands make for light work" coming true before my very eyes. ¡Bravo, everyone!

Welcome All!

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary to tap into technology to spread the word simpler so we can stop making all these stinkin' phone calls, we start a blog.

This blog is devoted to those friday nights where we could really use some human interaction. This blog is about bringing people together, to share in the good times, for support in the tough times.

Here, I will post the activities I have a part in (official ward activities, informal movie nights, "The Office" Thursdays, etc) If you have an activity you would like to spread the word about, give me a call on my cell phone... I can post to this blog remotely, at any time, and am more than willing to do so. Consider making this a home page (its pretty light weight, so it isn't too annoying) I will work on getting rss, and atom feeds going to make it even easier to stay up to date (Im really not very good at that sort of thing, but I will give it a shot).

Somebody get me a bottle of champaign so I can smash it against my monitor... This Blog is duly christened!
